Imagine $6 trillion spent on energy efficiency and renewables over 50 years instead of the Iraq War

Estimated Cost of Iraq War

Estimated Cost of Iraq War

Mother Jones reports on new estimates of the true 50 year cost of the invasion of Iraq.  The estimated $6 trillion cost is 100 times greater than the “50 to 60 billion” initial estimates by the Bush Administration.

Many believe a motive for this invasion was for control of oil production. If that’s so,  it was a very poor investment.  Six trillion dollars spent over 50 years  could have created millions of jobs in energy efficiency and renewable energy, in turn creating a robust and sustainable US economy,  a healthier environment, and independence from foreign oil.
